Consultations
While providing mental health services for our school, Ryanne not only worked with students but she also counseled many of us adults simply through having a relationship with her. I saw student after student regain their lives and develop skills to continue to live in and through some difficult circumstances. Ryanne is truly gifted as a counselor. I have benefited greatly from simply knowing her. -Doris L.
In my 15 years of clinical experience working with children and families, I have never met a “bad kid.” In my 10 years working in a school-based mental health program, I never dismissed a single student’s behavior as “attention seeking.”
In my trauma-informed and neurodiverse-affirming approach, I don’t seek to answer “what’s wrong with this child?” Instead, I ask genuine questions and listen to understand “what’s happened to this young person?” — without second guessing or discounting what they tell me. I recognize their behaviors, not as problems to be corrected, but as appeals for connection that must be met with curiosity and validation.
Using a strengths-based approach and drawing on extensive clinical knowledge, I provide mental health consultation to individual parents, and school systems to identify areas of strength and areas for growth, both in working with a single child or in a broader context of professional development.
For families this can look like:
Empowering parents to recognize and address family dynamics or intergenerational trauma that are influencing their children
Working with parents who have a student on the verge of being kicked out of school or is being violent toward siblings – but not ready to seek therapy or clinical diagnosis for their child
Supporting parents to better understand their student’s behavior by observing them at school and creating a functional behavioral assessment
For school systems this can look like:
Practical trainings for teachers, including:
Mental Health 101 and Mental Health in the Classroom
Tell Me What Happened: Trauma, Regulation, & Importance of Co-Regulatory Partners
Supporting Kids During Unstructured Times with Relationship-Based Interventions
and more
Professional development for school staff, including:
Meaning Making: The Importance of a Coherent Narrative
Attachment Relationship and its Impact on Learning
Recognizing Anxiety in the Classroom
and more
On going support for staff and teachers including classroom observations, 1:1 teacher/staff consultations, meeting with grade level teams, special education teams or paraprofessionals

Ryanne was a very committed professional who offered my students and their families support and help to grow in their social and emotional learning skills needed for school. Ryanne was organized, dependable, hard-working and caring. She also checked in to see how she could support our shared students in class and out of class. She went above and beyond to provide for our students. Her services made huge impacts on children and their success in school and life.

As a classroom teacher, Ryanne was an invaluable partner in helping me to better understand and serve the needs of my hardest-to-reach students. She provided me and other staff members with critical training for working with students dealing with challenging life circumstances and, in many situations, severe trauma. Ryanne shared her wealth of knowledge and experience in ways that felt non-judgmental and attainable.

The professional development that she provided on trauma, attachment and co-regulation were instrumental in creating a safe and welcoming environment at the school. Later in our work together, I had the opportunity to co-present district wide with Ryanne on attachment and regulation. These training were always well received and attendees often praised the depth of Ryanne knowledge and ability to provide specific strategies.
